| My '94 cools poorly although the refrigerant level is correct and the clutch engages properly. For a long time I had no clue what was wrong. I could see the clutch cycling, and not being familiar with the system assumed it was normal. The problem with my car is that the TCA is out of calibration, or simply put malfuctioning. Instead of activating when near 34F it does so closer to 44F. As you can imagine, an evaporator held at 44F will not provide sufficient summer cooling. This issue has been discussed on the Nissan Frontier site. Several posts there address the problem of a malfuctioning TCA. I may be the only member here to experience this problem but I wanted to post this valuable information of a simple but unusual problem, that is hard to discover, given the uniqueness of the Nissan a/c system.
